Abner's Cheesesteaks of University City, now over 20 years old, has always been a proud supporter of university sports teams, alumni societies, community services and much more. We pride ourselves in providing customers with a true Philly food experience. Whether it be one of our famous Cheesesteaks or a fresh Garden Salad, we strive for quality and perfection in all our meals.

Over the years, we have been been fortunate to see thousands of university students and alumni walk through our doors to find a place where they can enjoy themselves with their family and friends. They stop by to look at our walls of pictures, many of which are of their friends and family. University of Penn alumni order cheese steaks from all over the United States; we pack and ship them out.

Many famous celebrities, including Wes Cunningham, former Philadelphia 76ers Moses Malone and several current Philadelphia Eagles players, also enjoy our food and enjoy spending time at Abner's.

Our refrigerators are never lacking beverages; we always have dozens of brands of beer to choose from as well as juices, sodas and water. So whether you are a Heineken fan, prefer to down a couple Budweisers, or want a refreshing cup of soda, we have the drink for you.

Said to have been created by a South Philadelphia sandwich maker in 1935. The steak sandwich consists of thinly sliced beef cooked on an open griddle and served with cheese on a submarine shaped Italian roll. Add your choice of onions, sauce, mushrooms, sweet peppers or all of the above and you are experiencing the true taste of Philadelphia.
